Boat Club Events
What’s on in 2026
Dates for 2026 events will appear on the website as the year progresses…watch this space! SMBC have close ties with the Luton Model Boat Club and others. At the St Albans Model Engineering show each September, we help to organise the Model Boat section, where as well as the displays, there is a ‘pop-up’ boat pond to see some of the models in action. It’s a good place to find boats and bits for sale.
SMBC usually have a stand at the Stotfold Steam Fayre – a big attraction with all the live steam engines. We are also at Biggleswade IPMS and the Southern Model show at Headcorn this year
Events may be subject to amendment or cancellation, depending on weather, pandemics, Govt guidelines etc…

Stotfold Steam Fair – We will be using the pop-up pool again the year as we have optimised the filling / emptying of it. The ‘come and try’ tugboats will be there as well although the now popular ‘tiny tugs’ will probably be there in force. Club volunteers are needed as always for setup on Friday, attending the stalls Sat/Sun and as usual there will be free tickets for helpers. Club 500 Race Dates
Every year we run some Club 500 racing consisting of six races through Spring / Summer and early Autumn. Racing starts at 11.am. There are 2 heats. If more than 6 competitors compete, we will have 2 groups, each with 2 heats. It’s fun to watch and even more fun to compete! Results of each round are posted on the website within a few days.
